Charts
1. Set
Both Explore and Taglists in one place. A new option
located on the Chart/Settings menu can be used to choose
the current list for both the Explore and Tag List functions.
The dialog box Explore and Tag Settings provides list boxes
from which you can select any of your available lists, including
group/sector and user created lists.
2. Force
Cursor to latest Date while Exploring Charts. The
Explore and Tag Settings dialog box provides an option that
will force the cursor to the latest (rightmost) date each
time a new chart is displayed using Explore.
3. Quick
Way to Rearrange Indicators in the Control Panel. You
can now rearrange your indicator list in the Control Panel
using your mouse and keyboard.
4. Overlay
Lock. When using the Overlay function, a new feature
locks the overlay chart in position. Then, when the horizontal
scroll bar is used to move the originally charted ticker
forward or backward in time, the overlay chart does not
move.
5. Horizontal
scroll bar now moves the chart. Moving the horizontal
scroll bar now moves the chart in relation to time. Notice
also that the information in the Control Panel, including
the market date, changes dynamically to correspond with
the movement of the chart.

New Functions:
•
Trigonometric
functions
COS()
SIN()
TAN()
These three
new trigonometric functions return the value of the COS,
SIN, or TAN of an angle (specified in degrees).
•
ValRule
function
ValRule(
rule, periods, dateoffset )
Same as
ValResult function except the input parameter is a Rule
instead of a User Defined Function (UDF). Function returns
the result of a Rule computed n periods back in time
RTAlerts and Quotes
1. Symbol
conversion now automatic. For some special tickers,
the symbol format used by Dial/Data differs from the format
required by Track Data, the provider of real-time information.
For example, the Dial/Data format for ticker abc traded
on the London market is abc@l while the Track Data format
is abc-l. You no longer need to translate these symbols
when you import a list of tickers into Real-Time News and
Quotes. All symbols are automatically converted to the required
format.
2. Tickers
can now be sorted by entry order in Quotes. A
new column named Ticker # can be used to sort tickers by
the order that tickers were entered.
3. Additional
Drawing Tools. New drawing tools have been added
to the Draw Attributes submenu. The new tools are: Fibonacci
Arc, Fibonacci Fan, Fibonacci Retracement , Fibonacci Time
Zone, Gann Fan, and Regression Line.
4. Current
Layout automatically saved. When you exit Real-Time Alerts,
you are no longer asked if you want to save the current
layout. Your current layout is now saved automatically.
5.
Editing
Attributes. Attributes drawn on real-time
charts can now be edited.
6.
Clearly
show individual Trading Days.
Start and end of trading days can now be clearly shown on
intraday charts. You can choose lines or shading to distinguish
individual trading days.
7.
Overlay
Feature now available. The overlay feature, which enables
you to display Price Plots of two tickers simultaneously
on the same chart, is now available for charts. An overlay
plot can be added to both real-time and end-of-day charts.
8. Chart
Spacing reduced.
The minimum plot spacing (horizontal time scale) has been
reduced to a value of 1. This change allows you to display
more data on real-time charts. The minimum spacing is particularly
useful when you are viewing real-time charts with 1 or 2
minute price bars.
9. Logarithmic
Price Scale added.
When working with historical charts (daily or weekly), you
can now display logarithmic price scaling.
10. Choose
Stepped or Smoothed Indicators
Indicator plots on charts can now be displayed with stepped
lines.
11. Improved
Control Panel. The Real-Time Alerts Control
Panel is now very similar to the Charts Control Panel. You
select an indicator you want to add to the chart by clicking
on it in the Control Panel. Clicking on it again removes
the indicator.
12. More indicators available.
All indicators available in TradingExpert Pro's Charts application
are now available in Alerts. See the AIQ Technical Indicators
Reference Manual for more information on all indicators.
13. Price Plot indicators now listed in separate section.
The list of indicators in the Control Panel is now separated
into two sections. Those that appear on the Price Plot are
listed in the upper section and those that are plotted individually
below the Price Plot are listed in the lower section.
14. Easily change order of indicators. You can quickly and
easily rearrange the indicator lists in the Control Panel
by clicking and dragging indicators to different positions.
15. Size of Control Panel can be changed. You can use your
mouse to make the Control Panel larger or smaller. As you
would resize any window, simply click on a side, hold down
the mouse button, and drag it to a new position.
16. New Alerts Grid. The Alerts list in the lower section
of the Real-Time Alerts window has been improved. A right
click menu with several new functions has been added and
the new grid format provides column headings with two additional
fields: Price and Interval.
17. Right click menu options. The menu that appears when
you right click on the Alerts grid provides several helpful
and timesaving options.
18. Plot Ticker. When you right click on a ticker and choose
Plot Ticker from the menu that appears, the plot in the
upper window is replaced with a plot of the selected ticker.
19. Display
Alerts. This selection opens
a second menu with two choices (All and Selected) that are
used to display an Alert Details window. Choosing All shows
all the Alerts that have been signaled for all the tickers
listed in the grid. Choosing Selected shows all the Alerts
that have been signaled for one particular ticker.
20. Change
display of information in Alert Details window.
Clicking your right mouse button in the Alert Details window
brings up a menu that allows you to change the sorting of
the Alerts listed in the window. This menu also allows you
to change the display of the window by merging rows of identical
information into single rows, making it easier to locate
important Alerts information.
21. Merge
Rows. The Merge Rows
option appears on the right click menus for both the Alerts
grid and the Alert Details window, performing the same function
for both. The option changes the format of the Alerts grid
window by merging rows that contain identical information
into single rows. The new merged format makes it easier
to locate important Alerts information.
22. Use new Overlay functions (OverlayRule and OverlayUDF)
to create Alerts. These functions allow the user to write
custom indicators or Alerts based on a ticker and its overlayed
ticker.
An example is:
!!! This function subtracts a ticker's close from the close
of an overlayed ticker. It may also be used as an indicator
or an Alert.
close is [close].
spread is overlayudf(close) - [close].
The function spread allows a user to create a spread between
two tickers. The spread can simply be the difference between
the price of the two tickers, or a more complex spread like
a ratio can be defined. Spreads can be computed from either
real-time or end-of-day data.
Portfolio Manager
1. Create
your own Custom Reports. You can now create your own
Portfolio Manager reports. Choose from 30 different data
fields to create up to three custom reports. You can create
a summary report or a report listing individual transactions
or positions. For the latter type, you can also specify
the type of transactions or positions that will be included.
Each report you create is assigned its own report tab.
2. New
Portfolio Performance Report. This new report displays
information of the type found on the tabs of the lower section
of the Portfolio Manager window (formerly Account Statistics
section). The report is divided into three sections:
•
Performance Statistics
• Internal Rate of Return
• Risk Analysis Archiving
3. Asset
Allocation Pie Charts. These charts show you how your
account is allocated either by individual stocks or by industry
groups. You can easily see how heavily weighted you are
in a particular stock or industry group and you can easily
make comparisons such as value vs. risk for the different
securities in a portfolio. Pie charts can display the relative
weights of up to 20 different stocks or industry groups.
4. Performance
Analysis. This Portfolio Manager page shows you how
an account has performed compared to certain "benchmark"
tickers. You can enter as many as five different benchmark
tickers for comparison to your account's performance.
5. Risk
Analysis. This Portfolio Manager page is mainly designed
to show you the level of risk involved with an account.
Based on all of the securities and cash held in the account,
a number of statistical parameters measuring investment
performance and risk are computed. For comparison, these
same parameters are computed for as many as five different
benchmark tickers. Parameters listed on Risk Analysis Page
are:
• Internal Rate of Return (IRR)
• Sigma
• Alpha, Beta and R-Squared
• Sharpe Ratio
• Treynor Ratio
6. Enhancements
to Portfolio Graph. You can now control the period of
time shown on the graph. The date range or the number of
days of history can be specified. You can also change the
graph colors.
7. Export
Portfolio Graph Values to a file. You can now export
Portfolio Graph values to a file for use in other applications
such as an Excel spread sheet.
8. Consolidate
your accounts into one master account.
You can now consolidate your portfolio accounts into one
master account. The master account will appear in the Account
List (left window) of the Portfolio Manager screen with
the individual accounts listed below in typical AIQ list
fashion.
9. More comprehensive broker profiles.
10. New
short strategy options for simulations.
Portfolio Manager simulations can now test shorting strategies.
When setting up a simulation account, you simply designate
the entry strategy as a shorting strategy. With this designation,
all positions are entered as short positions and you receive
an analysis based on this premise.
Nasdaq Level II Screen
1. Nasdaq
Level II quotes. Displays dynamically updating quotes
for ticker shown in Ticker field. In addition to bid and
ask prices, 21 other data fields can be displayed
2. Market
Maker section. The windows on left side of the Nasdaq
level II screen display quotes and other real-time Market
Maker information. This information is designed to show
at a glance the best available prices for the shares you
are buying or selling. You can also find the firm or firms
offering these prices. The windows are as follows:
• Summary window - This window summarizes best
bid and ask offerings for all Market Makers. Currently quoted
best bid and best ask prices are listed with highest bid
price and lowest ask price shown at top of list. The number
of series that are shown in color can be changed by the
user (maximum number is eight). To find the Market Makers
that are offering a particular series, you simply look for
the corresponding color in the windows below.
•
Series Counts and Series
Volumes
- Series Counts:
Number of Market Makers currently offering each series.
- Series
Volumes: Total number of shares currently offered by all
Market Makers for each series
• Market
Maker quotes - The two side by side lower windows in the
Market Maker section list quotes from individual Marker
Makers. The window on the left shows the Bids and the window
on the right shows the Asks. Both lists are sorted by price
with the best Bid and Ask prices at the top. Market Makers
offering the same price are sorted by offering size with
the largest size at the top
3. Transactions.
• Transaction
Log - The lower window in this section, which is also known
as Time and Sales, tracks all quotes and trades for the
security entered in the Quote Line. Up-to-the-minute trades
or quotes, or both, can be displayed. When a new trade or
quote occurs, the log is dynamically updated with a new
line of information.
•
Transaction Graph - This graph shows recent
bid/ask quotes and trades plotted vs. time.
•
Volume Ratio Graph - This graph displays price
and volume figures from recent trades. What is interesting
about this graph is that trade prices are split into two categories,
large volume trades and small volume trades. The split is
based on a volume size that you specify called the threshold
value.
